In 2009 I worked on clearing out the tree line that separated our yard from the green space behind our house.  Some other neighbors worked on their tree line last year and this past winter so it got me even more energized.  Needless to say this took me the better part of 9 months from start to finish.  I didn't document the progression very well so there are big holes but here are pictures that I do have to show before and after.  Eventually, I would like to cut stairs into our hill to make a better walking path the the sitting area.

January 12, 2008 - You can see the construction plastic still up running along the back of the properties.

April 4, 2008 - Yes, this is the day after Caleb was born, taken by Grandpa who stayed at the house that night because of the terrible rain storm that hit us.  That is Elkhorn Creek in the 100 year flood plane, normally known as the green space.

May 2, 2009 - I have started to make some progress of the large woody plants.  You can see several piles at the edge of the clearing past the trees ... eventually they would burn.

July 17, 2009 - During July 4th weekend, Mom and Dad came down to visit.  Dad and I really got the steepest part of the hill cleared, graded, and seeded to keep it from washing away.  Also, all of the rocks that you see, the big ones and small ones ... ALL came out of the ground where I am clearing.  Honestly, that was the hardest part of the whole project.

October 28, 2009 - All the new grass seed has come in great!

November 20, 2009 - After the last grass cutting of the year.  A very happy ending to a long project!  Oh yeah, I ended up getting Poison Ivy 6 times this year and yes, I am allergic to it.  I took prednisone 5 times!

A view of my grass, the neighbors clearing, and the "non-clearing" 2 houses down.
